**What is periodontal staging and grading?**
Staging describes the severity and treatment complexity of periodontitis. Grading estimates how quickly the disease may progress and considers risk factors such as smoking and diabetes.
**How does StageLine determine the Stage and Grade?**
StageLine applies the clinical information you enter—including attachment loss, bone loss, probing depths, tooth loss, complexity factors, age, smoking, diabetes, and documented progression—to the accepted staging and grading criteria.
**What periodontal classification does StageLine use?**
StageLine is based on the **2017 World Workshop Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions**, developed jointly by the AAP and EFP.
**Does StageLine provide CDT coding guidance?**
Yes. StageLine suggests applicable periodontal CDT codes based on the information entered. Coding decisions should always be verified by the treating clinician.
**Does StageLine store patient information?**
No. StageLine does not request, store, or transmit patient-identifiable information.
**Can StageLine help with clinical documentation?**
Yes. StageLine generates a structured clinical narrative summarizing the findings, staging and grading rationale, risk factors, and relevant treatment considerations.
